A couple of years ago I picked up this dirt cheap inflatable kayak. My thought was to get a little firsthand experience before I invested in a “real” kayak. And it worked. It took me awhile to get around to it, but today I finally took her for her maiden voyage in the neighborhood lake. I learned three very important things!
- I LOVE paddling!
- I DON’T love this craft.
- I need to research packrafts.
Rick would love for me to catch the fishing bug. I think I’d like fly fishing. I could see hiking a sub-5 pound raft and a fly rod up to a beautiful mountain lake, catching my dinner and cooking it over a campfire. All I need to learn is packrafting, how to choose a fly rod, how to choose a fly, how to catch a fish, how to land a fish, how to clean a fish, how to cook a fish, and how to deal with the offal when you’re leaving no trace. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, right?
